Libraries are believed to be the place to go to acquire a book. While this is true, libraries are, at their core, so much more. The library should be a safe place – a place of community and free expression. The library should be a place where imaginations run wild and worlds are explored without ever leaving home. The Patton Springs Library strives to be all of these things to the students and teachers that we serve. We have over 14,000 print books in our collection as well as a varied selection of audio books and electronic books. We also have a Reading Room where students are encouraged to come and have a quiet, inviting place to read and catch up on homework. In 2014, the library was awarded theLaura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries Grant$5,000 andTarget Corporate Grant$2000 to expand, update, and diversify our library. We are constantly working to provide the greatest possible literary opportunities to the students in our care. In the words of Andrew Carnegie “A library outranks any other one thing a community can do to benefit its people. It is a never failing spring in the desert.” The Patton Springs Library endeavors to always be an oasis of knowledge to our students.
